Question

My wife and I filed jointly last year. Do I just enter the same AGI for both of us in order to confirm our identities?

Hello @amentin15 !

You will use the AGI as it is listed on your 2018 tax return.

Your 2018 AGI is on the 2018 Federal tax return you filed:

  • Line 8b on Form 1040 (for tax year 2019)
  • Line 8b on Form 1040-SR (for tax year 2019)
  • Line 7 on Form 1040 (for tax year 2018)
  • Line 21 on Form 1040A (for tax years before 2018)
  • Line 4 on Form 1040EZ (for tax years before 2018)
  • Line 35 on Form 1040NR

If you filed your 2018 taxes with TurboTax, sign in and go down to Your tax returns & documents

Select View adjusted gross income (AGI)

If you are not sure which User ID you used to file go to the TurboTax login page and select

I forgot my user ID or password

You can also try viewing or downloading a transcript of your 2018 return online at irs.gov

Keep in mind at this time tax transcripts are only available online as the IRS has stopped processing transcript requests by mail until further notice.

We have also have a great article on this subject: How do I find last year's AGI?

Also, this will help with entering your AGI in TurboTax: Where do I enter AGI?

Hope that helps!
