My wife passed last march. Do I need to start a new account?

No you do not need to start a new account. You can still use your normal account information to sign on. When you start your tax return, the program will ask you if your wife passed away during the year (this is when you are entering in the personal information). The program will guide you through how to prepare the return based on that information.
