Question

My wife was married last year to another. Married to me this year. How do we file jointly without AGI issues?

Wife finalized divorce early 2022 and we got married late 2022. We are trying to file fed taxes but it’s saying I need her AGI last year. She wasn’t working last year and not working this year because she’s a stay at home mom.

Ahhh....but if she filed a joint return for 2021 with her ex, then her AGI is on line 11 of that 2021 return.   When you file a joint return the AGI is the same for both spouses even if one of them did not work.

If you cannot get that amount or you have trouble, then try using zero.  If neither of those work, you may need to print, sign and mail your 2022 return.
