My Wisconsin tax return will not file because it says I need schedule I to be updated I don’t know what that is and I have never used itbefore

You wait another full week. You run thru the full WI interview around 8 Feb....and then file after everythign checks out at that time...if it all checks out at that time.  Don't file eitehr until the WI forms are final and ready and error free.

A Schedule I  isn't a part of the software for WI yet...(It has some additions and subtractions from federal income to yield WI income)....WI changed it and had it re-issued in late January, but the TTX software has to be adjusted to integrate the changes and tested to include it to work properly with everything else..

Schedule I is "currently" scheduled to be ready 6 Feb...but check back on the 8th , go thru the WI interview again, and see if you can file it then.
