The MY INFO correctly shows my wife’s middle initial as L.  However, the 1040 form shows her middle initial as l. How do I fix this discrepancy?

    @dayork1-comcast-

    OK...I figured out how to change it.   Carefully.

    1) First go in and edit her name in the My Infor section and make her middle initial entirely blank.

    2)  Then "Continue" out to the main My Info page that shows everything for both of you.

    3) Then "edit" her again and make sure you put in the upper case "L" and continue out.

    4) Check the 1040 again and it should now be OK.

    Steps #1 and #2 together are critical in order to change her "L".

    I messed with the Online software, and it is pretty flakey about that.....probably no one at TTX realizes this.

    IF you accidentally enter a lower case el "l", the first time thru, it shows an upper case "L" on the My Info page anyhow, even if it is lower case in the background.  IF you go back into the person to edit the "l", it shows now as an upper case "L" even though it really wasn't entered that way.  IF you just edit the box to put in an upper case "L" anyhow.....it doesn't really "take", and keeps the lower case "l" anyhow.

    SO in order to change it, you have to blank-out  the initial box entirely......work out to the main My Info page so that it keeps the blank field, then go back in a second time to enter the proper "L".

    ay...ay..ay...strange programming.
