Cannot enter negative number for cost adjust on espp stock sale

I believe you are trying to adjust the cost basis reported on your Form 1099-B that reports the sale of employee stock. If so, you will be asked to enter the correct cost basis, not make an adjustment. So, there would be no reason to be entering a negative amount, just enter the correct cost basis:
