No 1099 from employer- they say I'm on the books as "cost of goods vendor"

I make a product for a company and consider myself an "independent contractor". I go to their location, use their equipment, and make my own hours. I invoice them for my time at an hourly rate. When I asked for my 1099 for 2019, they said that I'm on the books as a "cost of goods vendor". Is this an appropriate way to do it and how do I claim the income? They paid me 20k+ last year. Thanks in advance!

are you an incorportated business? such as an S-corp then they don't need to file a1099 for your corp

if not, they should have issued you one since you were paid over $600.     use your reords to report the income and related deductions on schedule C.

Thanks for responding- no I'm not an S corp. Just a subcontractor... or so I thought.

No matter, if they paid you and you know how much it was, then do as Hackitoff told you and just enter your income in the business section under "General Income" (as I recall from memory). You don't have to have a 1099-MISC to do this.
