Not claiming daughter but did receive child tax credit in 2021- how to enter?

I'm using the TurboTax software for this. I am single and let my fiancee claim our daughter on her taxes this year. I claimed her last year and received $1500 in 2021 through the Advance Child Tax Credit. I have no idea how or where to enter this. Because I didn't check off that I'm claiming a dependent, I feel like this is why I'm not being prompted to enter this.

You need to enter the advance tax credit you received in 2021, even if if you do not claim the child for tax year 2021.

To do so, please follow these steps:

    1. In TurboTax, open your tax return
    2. In the Federal section of your return, go to Deductions & Credits
    3. Scroll down to You and Your Family and click Revisit/Start next to Advance payments, Child and Other Dependent Tax Credits
    4. Click Continue
    5. Answer Let's start with where you spent the most time in 2021.
    6. Answer Yes to Did you receive any advance Child Tax Credit payments in 2021?

You do have to enter it---and depending on your 2021 income you may or may not have to pay it back if you are not claiming the child for 2021.   The parent who is claiming the child on a 2021 return can get the full amount of the child tax credit.   She does not enter the amount that YOU received on her tax return.

    Enter it here:

Federal>Deductions and Credits>You and Your Family>Child Tax Credit
