NYS Return for Deceased Parent

My mother passed away in 2022 - she was a widow.  I'm mailing the federal return with form 1310.  What do I need to do with the NYS return?  Is there any special form to send like with the federal?  And how do I sign the return?

Thank you

You are taking the right steps. The following information is for the New York State (NYS) individual tax return: NY

    Decedent information

    • If the taxpayer whose name is listed first on the return died after December 31, 2021, and before you filed your return, enter the date of death in the box labeled Taxpayer’s date of death, in month, day, and year (four-digits) order.

    • If the taxpayer whose name is listed second died after December 31, 2021, and before you filed your return, enter the date of death in the box labeled Spouse’s date of death.

You sign the returns for your deceased mother or simply write 'Deceased" then sign beside it with daughter or son beside it. I would include a copy of the federal form 1310 with the New York even though I do not see these specific instructions. If there is a refund this should suffice for the check to be made out to you.
