We received a small amount from a stock investment in a company involved in oil. It was reported thru our broker as a royalty rather than dividends. How do I handle it?

If it is reported in Box 2 of Form 1099-MISC, look in the Other Common Income section and click the Start (or Update) button to the right of Income from Form 1099-MISC.

You should enter royalty information that is not related to a business on Schedule E.

1.  Click "Income & Expenses" a the top of the page

2.  Scroll down to "Rentals, Royalties, and Farm"

3.  Click "Show More"

4.  Find "Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E) "

5.  "Start/Revisit" that topic

Here is a link with more information if you need.
