I just entered everything for my 2022 filing.  Somehow when I closed the file I lost everything. I had to uninstall and reinstall the application and start over.  Now I'm afraid to close it, but waiting for more investment forms to do final file.  Can I safely leave the application open indefinitely on my desktop?

Assuming you are talking about the desktop/download program

I tend to leave it open on Windows...don't know what happens with a MAC

BUT, I save my actual file to one file name, after saving that I go to open a second test file I've used to see how things work for various situations....that one is the one I leave open.

OF course if you first save your file...you can shut down the program and come back later to re-start it and continue working on it.   Enter a minimal amount of stuff and try that to make sure you can start up where you left off.  Save your file often until you think you can trust it again..

And never leave yoru tax file in the middle of some form or entry, always work your way out to some main menu page before shutting down.

Thanks.  It's working so far!  Able to save and reopen.
