Question

Only one page Form 8949 (Copy 1) showing in "Forms in My Return" but 22 pages in Print Center!

When I view Form 8949 (Copy 1) in "Forms in My Return" it looks like a one page abbreviated summary, with only a few transactions for January and then line 2 is the Total for transactions for the rest of 2024.

However, when I print "All Official Forms Required for Filing" from the Print Center, there 22 pages of Form 8949 -15 pages of Short Term and 7 pages of Long Term transactions!

When I e-file my return, will the IRS only get the single page Form 8949 (Copy 1)? Is that all they need and not the 22 pages that I can print out? Or do I have some kind of system error in Turbotax Premier Desktop edition?

    @foxy1

    If you ask TurboTax to print 1099-Bs, that is internal data not in the format required by IRS .

    If you are not excused by the detail reporting exception (below),
    IRS requires details of your SELL transactions to be supplied on some Form 8949,
    or on your other forms (e.g. consolidated 1099-B or spreadsheet) which have the same information and in the same manner as Form 8949.

    Detail Reporting Exception: if you summarize Category A or Category D, Form 8949 is not needed for transactions without adjustments. No mailing is necessary. No attachment is necessary.

    If the transactions on the  generated Form 8949 show adjustments in col (g) and no code  "M" in col (f), Turbotax is doing it correctly.

    I just realized that the Form 8949  in "Forms in My Return" has a scroll option, so I can scroll all the way from Jan-Dec 2024, Will the IRS see that scroll option? There are multiple adjustments in col (g) due to Wash Sales, hence the code W in col (f)  but no code M. So is that all good? I guess the idea is to e-file just one 8949 summary page for efficiency instead of all 22 itemized transaction pages - right?
