Solved

Our son died in Jan 2018. We filed his return this year (for 2018) with no problems. When filing our return though this year - it was rejected. Info is correct - fixes?

Error code was:
IND-931-01 - The Dependent SSN (or Qualifying Child Identifying Number on Form 1040-SS (PR)) has been locked because Social Security Administration records indicate the number belongs to a deceased individual.

The Social Security Administration locks the Social Security Number of a person who is deceased to prevent fraud.  You will need to file paper returns to claim your son's dependency credit for 2018.  I recommend enclosing a copy of his death certificate with your return, as it will show your names as his parents, and his.

    My condolences on your loss.
