Paid Family Leave, no 1099-G, Indiana

My company pays up to 8 weeks of leave for the birth of a new child, and you have to take FMLA at the same time. I am confused if I need to check the box for "Paid Family Leave" in TurboTax. Reading other community answers I think no, but it seems to be state dependent. I am in Indiana.

- The leave was paid by my employer, not the state nor an insurance company.

- I did not receive a 1099-G.

- I do not see any values on my W2 that correlate to the amount of paid family leave.

- If I check the box in TurboTax it does not ask for the amount of paid family leave.

Should I check this box or not?

Yes, you can check the box but it will not affect your taxes so if you do not check it is okay too.  Because Indiana does not exempt or exclude the disability income for state taxes purposes, checking the box will not make a difference in the tax results, which is why TurboTax does not ask for the amount.  You would only receive a 1099-G if the Paid Family Leave is paid by the state (ex. California).  If your company provides Paid Family Leave, it most likely comes as a short- or long- term disability plan.
