You appear to be using Online Deluxe.  

Is your Federal refund large enough to cover your product fees (Federal fee plus state fee, if applicable) plus the $40 service fee for that "pay out of refund" option ($45 for California filers.)   Also sales taxes.    You will avoid that  $40/45 service fee if you pay upfront with credit/debit card or a prepaid debit card you can buy in a store.   

 

Do you have any of the circumstances in this FAQ that might keep you from getting the "pay out of refund" option?
