paying for turbo tax when you live abroad

Cannot believe that turbotax will not accept my perfectly valid US Visa credit card (United Services Automobile Assoc.-USAA )because i don't live in the US. In this day and age that is just pathetic and a real slam to all expats and service people living abroad.  I can't understand,  if my US bank is happy with my address, location and usage why turbotax would question that . Please review this policy and straighten it out..

What puzzles me is if the transaction goes thru to pay for the product and there is a subsequent problem its the bank that has to resolve the issue with me. Intuit. once the transaction is authorised is home and free with the money in their pocket. !!!

Turbotax is officially not available outside the US.  (See the Amazon listing, for example.)  I don't know why, possibly there is an export restriction due to the built-in encryption.   Turbotax also doesn't accept foreign payments, you must have a US bank account or a credit card with a US address.  Again, I don't know why, and no one on this board has any influence with the people who make those decisions.  (I will note that the IRS will only make a direct deposit into a US bank, and the IRS may have anti-fraud rules that disallow a tax provider from offering refund deposits to overseas accounts.)

For this reason, I suggest that US persons living overseas should have at least one US credit card and one US bank account, even if they don't use it very often.

Sorry for your frustration, we don't make the rules and have no influence over those decisions.
