PAYING INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS & STUDIOS (W-8BEN)

I used Turbotax Home/Business for the first time last year.  I work with artists and their agents overseas (listed on W-8BENs) and domestic artists whom I pay as 1099-misc.

Now that I'm working on my 2019 taxes, I realized I put all the non 1099-misc payments under COMMISSIONS, and I should have put them all under CONTRACT LABOR.

The IRS did not flag/question it on my 2018 taxes.  Should I keep it the same under COMMISSIONS for 2019, or should I put it in CONTRACT LABOR this time?

It doesn't matter, you should use the expense title that makes the most sense to you.

The IRS does not look at prior year returns in the audit selection process until a return is already selected for audit, so what is on a prior year doesn't matter.
