Question

PIN for E-filing

I E-filed in 2019 and had a PIN for myself and my spouse. My spouse died in early 2020; I sent a death certificate to the IRS as they requested. This year I received a PIN for myself but not for my wife, though I will be filing as 'married filing jointly' for the 2020 tax year. Will this be a problem; will I need a PIN for my deceased spouse?

    Possibly.

If you are referring to an IP PIN, this can be retrieved online. Go to: Retrieve Your Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)
