Check if the right state was selected on each payment.

To enter Federal or State Estimated Taxes Paid, including a state estimated payment made in January for the prior year, go to

Federal on left or at top (Personal for Home & Business)

    Deductions and Credits

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Estimated Taxes - click the start button

You enter state estimated payments under the federal side (because they can be a federal itemized Deduction).  THEN after you finish filling out the estimates under Federal you need to click on the State Tab at the top and start the state return over for it to update.

You have to pick the right state from the drop down box and enter the right payment dates.

The entries were still there so I cleared the screen and re entered them. The totals show up in the properly on  the next summary screen. I went to review federal then on to start state. But it just had a continue state button. Do I need to delete the entire state return? Alot of wasted time - no way to get it on the without a total redo?

Before we clear things away, let's check a couple oy things.

You can preview your tax return by going to:

    1. On the menu bar on the left that shows.
    2. Select Tax Tools
    3. On the drop-down select Tools
      1. Tip: If you don't see the dropdown for Tools, minimize the Home feature.
    4. On the popup menu
    5. Select View Tax Summary
    6. On the left sidebar
    7. Select a state summary
    8. Look toward the bottom for Amounts Paid and Withheld
    9. Does this look reasonable?

Select BACK on left sidebar to return to interviews

    Open TurboTax

    1. Under Federal
    2. Select Deductions and Credits
    3. Scroll down the list to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
    4. Select Estimated Tax Payments from the drop down
    5. On the new drop down choose State estimated taxes for 2024
    6. Did you pay federal estimated taxes for 2023? - YES
    7. Post the estimated taxes that you paid

Where do I enter my estimated tax payments?
