Question about the stimulus checks

So I made $11,053 for my gross income last year. I still live with my mom as we split the bills and I help her pay for things, but she does make more then me at nearly $29,000. I'm 32, but I'm wondering about some of the requirements to get the $1,200 stimulus payment.

On one hand she makes more then I do by a pretty large amount, but I don't make under the $4,200 limit that they say qualifies as a dependant. I am also not a student at all, nor am I under the age of 24. All of that being said, has left me wondering if I'm going to get the check or not as I'm currently laid off from my job and could really use the 1,200 to help me out. I'm afraid that her making more then me is going to disqualify me though.

Any help would be appreciated. I've looked through the articles and am still not completely sure whether I qualify or not due to our pay difference.

you are each eligible for the $1200. your pay differences have nothing to do with it. You are eligible for the $1200 because you are not a tax dependent of your mother,

did you file a 2018 or 2019 return?

Yes I did, but I was told that because she pays the majority of the rent in our household that I wouldn't qualify. That's why it was so hard to figure out. I'm over the age of 24, only make barely 11,000. Not a student, but do live with her and she pays most of the rent.

I was just really concerned with that detail.

All taxpayers receive the $1200 UNLESS you are tax dependent of another tax payer. Normally that would be college student still under their parents, people who make under $4200 that live with someone else that supports them as a few examples.

But you can not be a tax dependent of your mother because a) you are over 23 years old AND b) your income is above $4200. again the fact that she pays the rent (which may be another way of saying she pays more than 50% of your support) doesn't matter because of a) and b)
