for Individuals ? Can I pay later via IRS website?

2. Do I need to attach my W2 copy in both state and federal return?

3. I  don't think I need to attach the state return to IRS?

4. Do I need to attach my federal return to state return?

5. There is no instruction where I can mile my tax return to California, can anyone please confirm.

Here are some answers to your questions:

1 - No, you do not need to attach the payment voucher to the return if you are not also attaching a payment.  You can pay using another method up to April 15, 2025.

2 - Yes, you do need to attach one section of your W-2 to both your Federal and state returns.  The little individual sections are labeled as 'Federal copy' and 'state copy'.  If you have any other tax documents that show Federal or state taxes withheld, then a copy of those should also be attached to the return.

3 - No, the IRS does not need a copy of your state return.

4 - Yes, the state may need a copy of your Federal return.

5 - See this link for addresses to mail your Federal return.  Use this link for addresses to mail your California return.

Thanks AnnetteB6 for your response! I am curious about why there is no instruction for my state tax return? Is there anything I need to worry about if the tax return is not populated correctly?

I can see two part of my tax return. First part is for my federal tax 1040, and second part is for my state retrun which only has 540, W2 and attached 1040. Does it miss anything?

You are correct.  You just need to send Form 540, Form 1040, and your W-2 to Franchise Tax Board.

Refer to CA FTB for File by paper instructions.
