Question

Rejected by IRS with correct AGI

Doing taxes for my GF and having an issue with her federal taxes being rejected due to AGI or PIN.  I did research a lot of old threads and we keep getting rejected.

  • Verified AGI on hard copy of return and used this value
  • She created an IRS account and verified the AGI from 2021 matched the hard copy
  • Tried entering a value of 0
  • IRS did correct her return and modified the AGI.... we did try this but knew it should'nt work

One difference, she did use a tax preparer last year.  We know the pin that should have been on the return, but even if this was wrong, it seems the AGI should have worked.  Her tax preparer did submit an ammendment in July of 2021 which has not been processed by the IRS yet (their website shows it was received on July 16 2021).

Any other Suggestions?

Have you tried using the AGI from the original return and not the one on the amended form?  If that doesn't work, please post here again for further assistance.

Yes, that was the original amount we used.

It finally went through - but it required the correct AGI "and" the correct PIN from last year.  We finally figured out what her last year's PIN was.
