It depends.

  1. Assuming by "on disability" you mean that your girlfriend is receiving disability payments, she shouldn't file unless required to do so. The IRS will already have her information.
  2. You may want to check out this resource from the Wall Street Journal: Who is left out of Coronavirus Stimulus Payments?

Regarding whether you could possibly amend past filed returns to claim your girlfriend, first, you would need to determine if your girlfriend could be claimed as a qualifying relative. Click this article for more details: Do I need to amend?

Click this article for more details: Who can I claim as a dependent? There are several examples to help clarify the rules. The main rules are re-posted here:

  • They are a member of your household the entire year.
  • The relationship between you and the dependent does not violate the law, for example, you can not still be married to someone else. (Also, check your individual state law, as some states do not allow you to claim a boyfriend or girlfriend as a dependent even if your relationship doesn’t violate the law).
  • You meet all the other criteria for “qualifying relatives” (gross income and support).

Filing as Head of Household must meet certain thresholds to qualify. Here are two resources additional about filing head of household:
