Remove form 8582

Hello,

Please tell me how to remove form 8582 from our tax return. My husband sold his business in 2016, and in 2018 the owners stopped making payments, so we effectively lost the value of the business and the remaining passive income that was supposed to come with it. However, this form still shows up every year on our Turbotax filings, even though we are both w-2 employees and show no other business ownership. Form 8582 loads full of zeros, but I would like to have this form not appear in our tax return, since there is no need for it. Please tell me how to remove it from our taxes.

If you can't get this resolved for me, I'll be forced to go to another tax preparation software. Thanks.

In most cases, deleting the form will resolve this issue.

If you are using the Desktop version of our software (CD/Download):

Click on Forms in the upper right of your screen
Find the relevant form on the left hand side of your screen in the Forms in My Return list
Click on the form (note, there may be one for both taxpayer and spouse if married filing jointly)
Click Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen
Click Yes to confirm you want to delete

If you are using TurboTax Online:

Login to TurboTax and click on Continue your return to get into the prep section
Click on My Account at the top of your screen
Click on Tools
In the list at the bottom, click on Delete a form
Click Delete next to the relevant form
Click Delete Selected Form to confirm deletion
