Reporting unreported income from prior years

By saying I have to use the same Turbo Tax account that I used for the original tax return, are you meaning this year's TurboTax 2023, or are you saying I have to use my old TurboTax software(s) for the specific year(s) that I failed to report the specific taxes? I have completely processed my TurboTax 2023 software and am fixing to sent it to the IRS.  I am fairly sure your instructions to me for making an amendment applies to TurboTax 2023, and not to prior year's software.  But I need you to make this plain to me.  (Thanks!)

[I had been receiving monthly multi-page updates from my broker, including an annual "Consolidated 1099" which I took to be just 20 pages of useless information.  But, this year, in processing a normal 1099 from the broker, it finally hit me that I needed to take care of this oversight.]

Yes, you need to use the account in which you filed the original return in order to amend it.

In other words, if you realize you have 2021 income you didn't include on your 2021 tax return, you need to use your 2021 TurboTax software, or the same online account in which you did your original 2021 tax return, in order to amend it.

Each tax year is separate and the software is slightly different because the law changes every year, at least a little.
