When logging back on to continue filling out the forms I get the message that there are updated and 8 minutes to complete the updates to the software. But after several seconds that message goes away without any updating taking place. Then when I try to input data for retirement income a message tells me that I can not input data into this topic due to federal tax data still tbd.

It sounds like your tax return may fall under some tax relief provisions issued by the IRS under the Cares act.

If so, the IRS has not yet released Form 8915-E, Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments.
