Rigging festivals in many states last year. how can I properly report the 1099 income and receive deductions for the cost of traveling and building my own small business?

You will prepare a Schedule C to report all of your self-employment income and expenses.  The first part is setting up your business details.  After that, you can enter any income (reported on a 1099-MISC or not reported on a tax form) and then enter your business-related expenses.  TurboTax will handle the rest.
