Received a W2 (from vested RSU) from 2020 (this is 2023 tax year).  I have moved to new state but that income still shows tax withheld in that state.  Do I need to file that states tax to claim refund?  Overall tax rate looks really high

    What year W-2?

    Is this a 2023 W-2 ?

If yes, you will need to file a non-resident state return, and claim that as income earned in the non-resident state.

You may get some of the tax refunded.

Do the non-resident state return first since you most probably will need to claim this income on your resident state return as well. In this case, you most likely will receive a credit on your resident return for the tax you pay on the non-resident return.
