Schedule 1 line 8z Other Income description garbled
Under EasyStep / Wages & Income / Less Common Income / Miscellaneous Income / Other Reportable Income, I input a description and amount. This entry is reported on Schedule 1 line 8z. When the description is longer than the space allocated on the form, the characters are made narrower to fit, and become unreadable on the PDF version of the return (and on the Forms / Schedule 1 in the application). I suspect the e-filed return would have the same issue. Instead, TurboTax should create a Continuation Statement on a separate page and append it to the return, with an appropriate note in the Schedule 1 line 8z field.
This is the CD version for TY 2022 running on a Mac. Per another post, it looks like the online version enters "see Stmt" for the description and includes a continuation statement with the e-filed return.
This bug is easy to reproduce:
1. Under EasyStep / Wages & Income / Less Common Income / Miscellaneous Income / Other Reportable Income, enter the description "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz". Note Schedule 1 line 8z description field in Forms or in the return PDF is legible.
2. In the same EasyStep field enter the description "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ". Now check Schedule 1 line 8z in Forms or the return PDF and see the characters are shrunk to fit in the Form field. The longer the description, the worse the outcome.
Instead of shrinking the description text to the point of illegibility, the description should be "see attached statement" (or whatever is appropriate for overflow) and a separate page containing the explanation should be appended.
