The 1099’s I get for machine hire when I add puts the income on the wrong line, how do you link or add a 1099 received for machine hire to keep income on machine hire line?

To go back to your Schedule F to review your entries:

  1. Go to the Wages & income section
  2. Select Farm Income and Farm Rental
  3. In the Tell Us About Your Farm or Farm Rental Income, make sure to select all the types of income you received
  4. When you get to Your Farming Income and Expenses, select Visit All
  5. In the next screen enter the income you received by category

Thank you for your response, Ive done that and am able to enter all the different income, but my problem is any 1099s I receive for machine hire there is no way to designate them as such, so it puts my machine hire income into other income which is not right. If I list the income under machine hire like I should, then when I enter the 1099 information it doubles the income.

The 1099 should be deleted, then the machine hire income directly on your farm. Keep the form in your tax file because the most important action is to report the income. Use the link below based on the TurboTax version you are using.

Delete Form 1099.

  • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
  • If you're using TurboTax Desktop software and need to delete a form, click here.
