I get paid cash but I still want to file taxes

    Will they give you a W2 or 1099Misc?  Do they take any taxes out of your pay? Probably not.

     

    That is self employment income.  You have to report all your income even if you don't get a form.

     

    You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version.

    If you earned over $400 from self-employment, you are required to file a tax return.  If you are filing online, you will need to use TurboTax Online Self-Employed to report your self-employment income and related expenses.  You will use the ''Other self-employment income'' category to report income received via cash or check, see image below.  

    If you are going to use desktop software, you may use any version, but the Home and Business version is best suited for your needs as it provides guidance on reporting this type of income.
