Self Employed Expensive Equipment

Hello,

I've been a self-employed professional freelance product (app/website) designer for around 6 years now. I work from home full-time and in the past have periodically upgraded my Macbook pro. This year I was considering investing in some even more professional equipment.

What I was looking at was the Apple XDR Pro Display which costs around $5,000. This would open up some more options and help my workflow, but I'm wondering how deductible it is. The most I've splurged on equipment is about $2,400.

Thanks for any info!

you can take a depreciation deduction for the full cost in the year you put it into service.

either section 179 or 168(k).   the difference is you need enough business income to fully utilize 179 while you don't for 168(k)
