Self employment tax in community property state

Hello,

I am doing married filing separately in a community property state and I have self-employment income while my wife does note.  In the community property worksheet section, TurboTax pulls in my self-employment tax (and deductible portion of it).  Do I include my self-employment tax in my federal tax withholding adjustments when calculating the addition/subtraction adjustments for tax withholding?  If so, would I just add it to my total federal taxes withheld? Thanks!

No, although you split self-employment income between spouses, the self-employment tax stays with the spouse who paid it.

Great thank you.  I wonder why TurboTax pulls the self employment tax into the Community Property Worksheet along with federal taxes?

In the case of registered domestic partners, you do split the self-employment tax, but not in the case of married individuals.
