Sending repayment documents to IRS - need to mail?

Hi - needed to repay income from 2019 and 2020 to a company.  Income was in excess of 50K. Took it as a right of repayment deduction (over 3k) in 2021. The company I repaid to did not issue amended W2s for the past years but instead gave me a letter proving how much money was repaid back to them in 2021 (including breakdown for each year of repayment). I did not get prompted by turbotax to mail this letter to the IRS along with my return. Should I mail it anyways or wait to see it the IRS requests it? If I do need to mail it what's the address to mail it to? As I mentioned, I was not promted to attach or mail this letter at any point, so not sure if it needs to be provided, but wanted to be certain.

The letter does not have to be sent with your tax return. If the IRS wants more information about the credit they will send you a letter asking for it. Keep the letter from the company and all other related records for at least 3 years in case you hear from the IRS.
