Should I filed Federal taxes for the mortgage interest I paid in 2018? I had no income at all in 2018.

I did not work at all in 2018 and would have $0 gross (net) income. But I did pay mortgage interest so should I file Federal taxes based upon that?

If you did not have any income, you are not required to file a return. You will not benefit from paying the mortgage interest.
