Should I register my daughter (2 in April) for an ITIN in order to qualify her as dependent? She was born in Australia.

My wife and I are Australians, living and working here on E3 visas (similar to H1B). My daughter was born in Australia. She lives here with us, and doesn't work obviously.

Yes, if she does not qualify to receive a Social Security number, you will want to apply for an ITIN for her to claim her as a dependent since you are filing a US resident return.  Here is an answer I provided on this subject that can assist you to prepare the ITIN application along with the TurboTax-prepared tax return.:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/6001133
