Yes, if you are required to file then all income must be reported. Money earned as a subcontractor is reported as self-employment income on schedule c. You will not owe self-employment tax on such a small amount. Please follow the directions below to enter your contract work in TurboTax Online.

  1. Open (continue) your return if it's not already open.
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for schedule c and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? and follow the instructions to set up your business.

Note: You will need TurboTax Deluxe or higher to report this type of income if you have no related expenses.
