Should I wait to file my taxes in the event the child tax credit increases with the next stimulus package?

You can wait if you want to. Congress has not passed a 3rd stimulus bill and we do not know if or when they will do so, nor do we know how it will be implemented if they do. We have no idea if they will change the tax laws again in the middle of tax season and create even more chaos with filed tax returns than they already caused when they changed the law at the end of 2020 and caused the IRS to have to revise 2020 tax forms, tax software to be revised, etc. etc. The filing deadline is April 15; you can get an extension to October 15 if you want to.
