Should my W-2 reflect wages not paid until 2021?

Started at new firm 12/21/2020. Received partial payment for payroll ending 12/31/2020 via direct deposit on 12/31/2020 (which I properly reported on the tax return). They paid me the additional balance via a paper check, which was not written until January 7, 2021. Should that portion not appear on the 2021 W-2, since I didn't have constructive receipt until 1/7/21? Or am I not understanding the way this works?

You are correct, only wages that were available to you by the end of the year should appear on your W-2 form. You could ask for a corrected form, but if the amount is not material you could let it go as it will reduce your pay next year.
