So it appears that I must purchase the desktop version to see my tax return in "Forms" mode?

To get your "Tax Tools" and "Tools" to show in TurboTax Online you must open your return. Click on "Continue" to get into your return. Your items in your left panel will then show.

You can also try previewing your tax return to see if it appears to be correct using the instructions below..

You can get to your tax return in TurboTax desktop as follows:

1. Switch to Forms Mode, and then  (see screenshots below for additional guidance)
2. Scroll through your forms in the left panel and 
3. Click on the form you want to preview (Example Form 1040)

You can get to your Tax Return in TurboTax Online as follows: 

1. Go to "Tax Tools" in your left panel,
2. Select "Tools" and then 
3. Select "View Tax Summary" and 
4. Select "Preview Form 1040"

To get to "Tax Tools" and "Tools" in TurboTax Online you have to continue your tax return

Your left panel will then populate with your "Tax Tools" and "Tools"
