You wait for the federal tax return to be either accepted or rejected sometime on or after January 27.

If the tax return is rejected then add the W-2 and re-file.

If the tax return is accepted then you will have to amend the federal tax return using Form 1040X to add the W-2. An amended tax return can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 4 months to process the amended tax return.
