Social Security Disability back pay

I received a lump sum for social security disability on an appealed SSDI claim in April 2021.  The backpay covered 5 months in 2019, 12 months in 2020 and 4 months of 2021.  No tax was taken from the lump sum.

What are my options for filing this?  I know I owe tax on the lump sum, but I don't want the entire sum to be claimed in 2021.

You have options for reporting this lump sum benefit.

Please read this IRS document for more information.
