Software won't load on Mac

I purchased Turbo Tax Premier on Amazon and then discovered that my Mac version 12.7.6 is not compatible with the 2024 software. My Mac will not allow me to update to Ventura 13 which is required for the software. Amazon apparently does not allow refunds for purchased software, and I'm trying to figure out what my options might be. Thanks.

If you can't buy or borrow another newer computer (Windows or Mac) you can switch to the Online web version. You can't apply the Desktop CD/Download purchase to Online. You have to pay for Online separately. You will have to get a refund for the Desktop program. Then you can use the Online web version. You might be able to get a refund from TurboTax. If you switch to the Online version you can transfer your 2023 return done in the Desktop program to the Online version. Post back next year if you need help transferring.

If you used the Desktop program before you may notice several differences and not like the online version. It has less features and no Forms Mode. You can only do 1 return. Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2024 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done. In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something. You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.

Thank you! Much appreciated. I was able to contact Amazon support and receive a refund for the software purchase (an exception to their “no refund” policy). I will try the online version as you suggest. I am happy to hear that I will be able to transfer my 2023 return into the online offering. 👍

Your complaint sounds like I would have written it except that I went out and bought a new MacBook Air and I still cannot get the program to install.

Vernon - sorry to hear of your issue. I ended up getting a refund from Amazon and using the online TurboTax program. It is not as robust as the software, but is working out just fine.

Absolutely just ran into this issue myself. Here I am, ready to begin all my work! I automatically purchase right after filing each year the next year's version when it becomes available, and I was never told this would be an issue! I've done TurboTax every year since 2015 with the automatic updates. I don't like doing it online; it's the worst and doesn't feel nearly as secure and the forms aren't as easy to navigate. Now I just clicked on download and it turns out I need iOS 13 or higher to do TurboTax on my computer? It's way past the 60 day refund for me; what on earth am I supposed to do now?

1. TurboTax did NOT inform me of this new change to their software requirements.

2. I am completely blindsided by this, and I assume most people are at the moment they download the software they have paid for. @turbotax this is completely ridiculous!

I don't want to do the online version, for reasons stated earlier. Simply please fix this issue so I can do my taxes like I always have before!

I have the same issue as I signed up for the OS Beta and now have 12.7.6 and new 2024 software will not load - needs version 13 ! Apple told me that my system was to old and would not handle the new update ! Did you get any help from Intuit for them to come up with an install ? Thinking on changing to another software if they are doing crap like this. I have been doing TurboTax for over 15 years, this is BS !

I did not receive a solution from Intuit for an install but ended up getting a refund from Amazon for the software download. It wasn’t easy, but once I spoke with Amazon customer service and explained the situation, they thankfully provided a refund.
I ended up going with the online TurboTax program and it was ok. You can’t access the forms like the downloaded software but other than that it worked for my purposes. The online version allows for uploading the prior year’s taxes and information, which helped a lot.
