Question

Someone claimed me as a dependent the past 2 years, but I'm 23 on SSI, Do I get paid still?

I have been on SSI since I was 18. I'm 23 now.
I tried doing a non filers tax file, and it said Primary SSN error code.

The primary person was claimed as a dependent or a spouse on another accepted tax return. You will not be able to file a return.

I live my dads house with my dad mom and brother.

I don't know who filed, I will have to check with them. I don't know if my SSN has been compromised,

I never had to file taxes, and I tried my self last year and I think I never finished it. There for nothing filed.

It says SSI people will get there $1200 stimulus check.

I saw a answer in this forum I thought that said 19 under or 24 full time students (on tax filing) or any one disabled has no age limit there for does that make them accept that claim that someone has filed me as a dependent.

I have schizophrenia, I'm on SSI, I didn't know anyone filed me as a dependent the past couple years.

It said all people on SSI will get a $1200 stimulus check, unless they have been claimed a dependent,

now does that I'm 21 - 23 from Jan 2018 - 2020, stop them from not giving me my check, as I don't think I should fall under that answer from earlier thread that says disabled any age can be claimed as a dependent.

I don't know though.

Can someone please answer this post.

I'd like to know do I still get my check?

no dependent gets the payment.  the person(s) claiming a depentent your age get nothing for you.  your age is not the only factor in determining whether you are a dependent.

you don't say whether or not your a full time student (for purpose of determining if you are a qualifying child you can be as old as 24)

if your not a qualifying child you could be a qualifying relative by if these tests are met

1) your related to the person  claiming or lived with them for all of 2019 (temporary absences ignored)

2) your gross income is under $4200 - gross income excludes SSI

3) they provide over 1/2 your support

I did not make $4000 or over from my own income.

I feel like my dad just added me a as a dependent to help his refund,

What to do?
