Question

Spouse, an editor, received 2 awards last year for a newspaper series. When listed under "other income," the description prints as "gambling winnings." How to change?

These are not gambling winnings.

Revisit the 1099-MISC section and go through the form entry and questions. I think you answered that it was "prize money" (in the question on do any of these uncommon situations apply). Go back to that question, choose "none of these apply" and answer the remaining questions.

TT is thinking prizes = gambling. (Which can matter because you can deduct losing bets up to the amount of winning bets you have but no further).
