Spouse doesn't have W-2 yet, but I have mine. Should I wait to file jointly, should we file separately, or are there any other options?

I am primary income, and my taxes would be the bulk of the return (95%+).  Claiming two children as dependents. Spouse's employer waits 'til the last minute to hand out tax forms.  Would be nice to get the bulk of the returns now, but not a necessity.

Wait until your spouse's W-2 arrives and file a married filing jointly return. There are many disadvantages to filing married filing separately tax returns for most married couples. You lose a lot of credits, tax rates are higher and you have to pay for two tax preparation accounts. There are no other options.

Fantastic. Thank you for the answer.  We will have to hound her employer then!
