Me and my son gets survivor benefits on out 1099 form we get seperately that is our only source of income

Do we combine our benefits? on our 1099 it sees the limit is 25000 if I will combine both our benefits in the future it might exceed to 25000?

thanks for answering.

No.  You do not include your sons SS on your return or in calculations to determine if you  need to file a return.  If you both ONLY have income from social security, then you likely do not need to file a return.

But, you would ONLY include your OWN income in the calculations.

You would use other income to calculate whether or not you need to file a tax return.
