State/Payer's state no. State/Payer's state no. For State of Maine is 23 on the 1099-R it will not e-file because of an error? it worked last 4 years?

State/Payer's state no. For State of Maine is 23 on the 1099-R it will not e-file because of an error? it worked last 4 years?

The Number is correct but after many tries it needed abbreviation for Maine, ME  23

Yes, a state ID number is usually longer than two digits. Try using the Payer's TIN. This is usually found under the name and address of the payer. It may say Issuer's TIN or Trustee's TIN instead.
