Why is there an additional charge to E-file state taxes?

    If you are using the TurboTax desktop editions there is an e-file charge for each state tax return being e-filed.  Then current e-file charge is $24.99.  This charge can be avoided by printing and mailing the state tax return.

     

    If using the Deluxe desktop CD/Download edition or higher, that was purchased from TurboTax, there is one free state program download included in the purchase price.  This does Not include one free state e-filing.
