Steps or procedure for sending tax return using mail

Yes, sometimes you have to print and mail in your tax return. Here are the steps for doing so:

1. Print your return from TurboTax. When the Forms Selection box comes up, select All official forms for filing.
2. Separate the federal from your state return. The federal return will be on top and start with Form 1040. If you aren't sure what your state return is called, reply back with the name of your state.
3. Staple your federal return in the upper left corner.
4. Sign at the bottom of page 2.
5. Attach Copy B of your W-2 forms and any 1099 forms that show federal tax withheld to the first page.
6. Mail the return and your check for any taxes due. Follow this link to get the address for your state.
